Carburettor Refurbishment

We refurbish SU carburettors, mainly from British Classics including MG, Triumph and Classic Mini.

We strip clean and inspect each carburettor before starting work on the refurbishment. They are vapour blasted and cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner. All air and fuel passages are checked before starting re-assembly.

The links, levers and linkages are re-plated to either clear or yellow passivated finish. The dashpot domes are polished to a high sheen that is easy to keep clean.

Each carburettor is then rebuilt with a genuine SU Rebuild Kit to ensure compatibility of parts. Once assembled they are again checked for free movement and the jets set at the SU recommended setting.

The final set up of the carburettors should be done when you have them reassembled them on your car. Each car has its own characteristics that carbs will need fine-tuning too. Garages that have a rolling road facility and a knowledge of classics would be ideal to finalise them if you don't want to do it yourself.
